Mr. Stephen Young spent his career with the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company located in Boston, MA. During his tenure he held positions of increasing responsibility primarily in the Employee Benefits Division which included assignments in Sales, Underwriting and Information Technology. He was responsible for the achievement of profit, growth, persistency, and superior customer service on National Account cases with annual premiums in excess of 2.5 million dollars per year. The total block of business managed was more than $750 million dollars.
He is knowledgeable in the marketing, underwriting and administrative aspects of all Group Insurance products including Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Life, Travel Accident, Major Medical, Dental, Prescription Drug, Vision Care, Long Term Care, Voluntary and Direct Marketed Association Group. He acted as account executive for numerous national accounts and association customers. In addition, he managed multiple new product development initiatives for emerging Group Insurance products including Dental and Prescription Drug. Mr. Young represented Liberty’s Group Benefits strategic business unit during several flagship system development initiatives. Responsibility required a solid background in all group products, the underwriting process, premium administration, claim systems, internal and customer financial reporting, and project management.
Mr. Young is a graduate of Colby College with BA in Psychology. Also, he attended the Life Office Management Association’s Executive Development Program and the Management Leadership Program at the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.
He served nine years on The Trust Board, including serving as Vice Chair, Chair of the Audit Committee, and a member of the Executive Committee.
His professional affiliations include the Life Office Management Association, the Health Insurance Association of America, the Society of Group Contract Analysts, Northeast Home Office Underwriters Association and the Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association.
